My dealings with Microsoft and the XBOX 360.
Rob Whittle

I'll start from the beginning , which i believe is the best place :)

i'd been hanging out for a cheap xbox 360 ,as i'd been fixing the minor faults on the units for sometime, and i found i truly did not want to pay the rude price for a console that that had close to a 70% failure rate

Don't get me wrong it's one kick ass system :) eitherway

So i search and i found on eBay i unit with only a disk reading issue and i scored it for around $150 ,a $40 laser later and she a rock solid performer

in the few months using it i had only 1 time i had the ring ,a hardware reset and bang going as hard as ever ..

Approximately 6 weeks after that little incident after a daily session on the XBOX360 i decided to take a  breather and allow the Xbox to have a rest for about 30 - 45mins

but to my surprise "THE RING OF DEATH" appeared i tried everything but the ROD remained

It's very odd for a unit to be working perfectly before switching it off ,to restart and it had died while resting ... but this is Microsoft!!!

any way i ended up messaging Xbox 360 support via the Australian website, to explain to problem and i also noted that I'm happy to pay for the repair {which a later found to be a pretty good fee of $130 } as the unit had been opening as the laser was replace d with no other changes / modifications , and this is the response,
